UNC Youth Arm Congratulates SEA Students; Calls on Gov’t to reassess priorities regarding Education

Caitlyn Brooker, a student of the San Fernando TML Primary School topped the 2016 Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam.

The UNC Youth Arm wishes to extend hearty congratulations to 1st Place SEA student, Caitlin Brooker (12yrs) of San Fernando TML,
2nd place student Michael Beepath of Avocat Vedic Primary and 3rd place student Aadi Lutchmedial of Specialist Learning Centre, St. Augustine. The UNC Youth Arm also congratulates all other students who were successful in the examination.

This examination sets the tone for the rest of these students’ academic lives and it is our view that it is one which tests the strengths and abilities of students. The pressure and intensity associated with this assessment is one that will forever remain with these students and they have learned a valuable lesson that hard work and dedication yields exceptional results.

On this note, we also take this opportunity to call on the Government to reassess their priorities regarding education and ask that valuable resources such as laptops for students entering secondary school as well as textbooks for students be continued as these are valuable tools which aid in the education process. Our nation’s children are the future and we must equip them today to prepare them to lead tomorrow.
