UNC Youth Arm: The Youth Have Lost A Mentor And True Champion For Young People
The UNC Youth Arm, like the rest of our party are truly saddened by the passing of one of party’s stalwarts, Clifton De Coteau. Mr. De Coteau or “uncle Coto” as many of us called him was a true mentor to hundreds of young people throughout our great party.
His dedication towards the development of young members of the UNC, offering advice and mentoring their development is supported by his track record of always being a champion of young people . As a person Clifton De Coteau gave his life for youth development, dedicating many years to moulding young minds as a teacher principal and then school supervisor.
Later on “Uncle Coto” would go to support the youth of the community through his passion of community service when he was elected as a Local Government Representative and subsequently the MP for Moruga Tableland. Coto’s love for youth didn’t stop there but was promoted at the National Level when he served in the Kamla Persad Bissessar Cabinet as the Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development. As Minister of Youth he was able to build a network with many youth groups throughout our nation and assist hundreds of youth in maximising their true potential.
Clifton De Coteau was a true champion for youth throughout his life. The Youth of the UNC over the various generations and nation are truly grateful for the massive role he played in their lives of the years.
We have lost a true mentor and individual with a sincere affinity for the development of youth.
