A Purpose for all Youth
A Place-A Plan- A Purpose for all Youth – The UNC Youth on a Mission along with the Honorable Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar SC and Attorney General Hon Anand Ramlogan SC have been able to sustainably develop the Youth in past years like no other Political Party or Government.
Speaking at the UNC’S Congress on Saturday 22nd 2014 the Chairman of the UNC Youth Arm Nicholas Morris spoke on the many measures the party’s Youth Arm with the assistance of the Prime Minister and Honorable AG have taken to better the lives of hundreds of Young People so they can Realise, Utilise and Maximise their talents to better Trinidad and Tobago.
Most of the Projects the UNC Youth on a Mission has championed no other Youth Group has been ever able to parallel or deliver upon and now they group is proving to be the strongest Youth Group in the Country they are now taking on Regional and Global issues such as the Accomplishment of the Post 2015 Agenda and My World 2015 Campaign.
Projects of the UNC Youth on a Mission over the past three years –
Bridging the Digital Divide – The Provision of over 58 Computers to the Less fortunate so as to increase access to information and Youth Development and Launch of 2 UNC Youth Computer and Homework Centres.
Learn to Live Program – The provision of over 5500 school bags and stationary items for back to school in 2013 while between the period of 2011-2012 500 was also given out. Under this program 35 students were also given partial scholarships to attend UWI.
Live Yuh Life Health Initiative – a Health program which has been going to different constituencies providing free medical care and healthy living sessions to reduce lifestyle diseases and unhealthy living patterns
Held the Biggest ever Youth Carnival Fete in 2014 – Connect 41 which over 850 Youth Attended
Respect our Parents Program – together with Honorable AG visited a number of senior citizens homes for Valentines Day to bring joy and happiness to their lives so as to show appreciation for their contribution to society.
Hands in the Sand – the official Environmental Campaign of the UNC Youth which implemented over 6 Beach Clean ups to celebrate International Coastal Month and this was done in conjunction with 8 other Environmental Activities of the UNC Youth which included launch of a recycling program and Agricultural Harvesting Program.
Assistance to the disabled – over 13 wheelchairs along with household repairs and hampers have been given to the differently able in the past year while hundreds of hampers have been given to less fortunate families.
Flood relief – in the past year over 500 families were assisted with clothes and hampers along with clean up efforts by the UNC Youth on a Mission during the flooding period of October.
Humanitarian Impact – the UNC Youth on a Mission has been celebrating World Humanitarian day by feeding hundreds of homeless individuals. Thus far 5 events were carried out to feed the homeless in the past two years.
In 2012 and 2013 launched a UNC Youth Legal clinic which has assisted hundreds of families thus far who were not able to afford legal services.
Sporting Programs – held over three major Football Tournaments and three Cricket Training sessions to reach out to Youth in the various communities, inclusive of the Football for Development Program which has been working with football teams in the rural communities.
In 2012 the UNC Youth had its own Radio show called Voice of the Youth on Radio Jaagriti to discuss Youth empowerment issues.
Connect 41 – the constant meetings of the different Constituency Youth Groups.
Religious Appreciation – in 2011 and 2012 the UNC Youth provided awards and tokens to over 50 Imams of the Trinidad Imam Council to celebrate Eid while for Divali sponsored food for various Youth Groups Divali celebrations. While for Christmas and Spiritual Baptist day also provided similar tokens.
Has built strong Youth groups in the Bagatelle and Laventille Area emphasizing this is a Youth Group and Party inclusive of all.
In 2011 and 2012 held a series of Constituency walks to promote the work of the Government and Prime Minister.
