Minister Roopnarine takes Project Touch to Woodland
The Member of Parliament for Oropouche West and Minister of State in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the Hon Stacy Roopnarine, continued Project Touch in her constituency yesterday Tuesday 26th February 2013 in the Woodland area.
Project Touch was launched in January 2011 to bring the services of the office of the Member of Parliament directly to the people and has since been a mechanism of direct interaction between residents, community groups, NGOs, members of the business community and their Parliamentary representative. Minister Roopnarine was yesterday accompanied by the Chairman of the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation Mr. Premchand Sookhoo, and they visited areas in Woodland such as Jacksingh Trace, Mungal Trace, Baig Trace and environs. Minister Roopnarine visited homes, listened to problems of the residents and assisted persons in need of various services.
Minister Roopnarine said that since its launch, she was able to take Project Touch to various parts of the constituency and she intended to continue in this vein as she understood that not all persons would have the ability to go to her office in Debe or her sub-office in Woodland to see her. The residents thanked their MP for improvements in their community such as the re-paving of Pluck Rd and Baig Tr, improvements to the Woodland Recreation Ground, Upgrades of the Woodland Community Center just to name a few. Minister Roopnarine thanked the residents for their continued support and indicated her commitment to continue working together with them.
