Padarath: Rowley wrong and strong on Emailgate, PM a national embarrassment
Princes Town MP, Barry Padarath has come out in support of Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar’s call for Prime Minister Keith Rowley to resign in light of revelations that the Police have found no substance to the allegations in the emailgate fiasco.
Padarath stated that Rowley abused his parliamentary privilege to advance a hoax of outlandish and malicious political persecution against his opponents and he should face the consequences of his actions and or resign for what has been described as the biggest national embarrassment to a sitting Prime Minister (Rowley).
The Princes Town MP reminded the national population that the allegations contained in the fictitious emails included conspiracy to commit murder involving then Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar. The then Leader of the Opposition, now Prime Minister took ownership of the words he uttered in the Parliament on that day and therefore it is not a simple matter of doing his “duty”, but must pay the price politically for misleading the national community.
He further added that the Prime Minister has become a national embarrassment as he now has egg on his face since he based his election campaign in 2015 on lies and falsehoods. Padarath stated that the Prime Minister is now the laughing stock of the country as it appears that he cannot keep his words or his actions in check.
The MP said that Prime Minister Rowley is intent on governing by fear, innuendos, conspiracies, allegations, continuous shifting of the goal post and blame. However the population was totally saturated by that approach since it has yielded no results and instead continues to blow up in the government’s face.
Padarath accused the Prime Minister of lacking any moral conscience in that he is yet to accept responsibility and admit that he was wrong. He added that this wrong and strong approach was going to be one of the biggest blows to the government and suggested that they eat some humble pie and say that they were wrong and that they were sorry.
