A UNC Government Will Repeal the Property Tax
Dear Citizens,
In light of recent discussions and debates surrounding the Property Tax Amendment Bill 2024, I wish to reaffirm the stance of the United National Congress (UNC) regarding this matter.
During the Parliament session, it was made abundantly clear that the UNC stands firmly against the implementation of the Property Tax. This tax, which has been portrayed as a burden on the people, is viewed by our party as nothing short of a “poverty tax” that threatens to exacerbate the financial struggles faced by many citizens.
Former Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar eloquently articulated our position, citing historical and contemporary examples of the detrimental effects of unjust taxation on societies. From tax revolts in other nations to biblical narratives, the message remains consistent: unjust taxes breed discontent and hardship among the populace.
In alignment with our principles and commitment to the well-being of the people, a UNC Government will secure your property by repealing the wicked Property Tax Act. We believe that this action is essential to alleviate the financial burdens faced by our citizens and foster a more equitable economic environment.
Property taxes are home invasions government style, and it is imperative that we stand united against policies that unfairly burden our people. The Property Tax Act, in its current form, does not serve the interests of the populace, and it is our duty to address this issue swiftly and decisively.
As we move forward, let us continue to advocate for policies that promote prosperity and alleviate the hardships faced by our fellow citizens.
