UNC Women Congratulates West Indies on Triple Win

The Women’s Arm of the United National Congress is jubilant over the historic 8 wicket win by the West Indies Women’s Team in the T 20 Tournament just concluded in India. We note the pivotal role of 18 year old Hayley Matthews in the victory through her knock of 66 off 45 balls which included 2 sixes. We celebrate with our regional women and acknowledge their ascension to the top of the cricket world stage inclusive of our very own Anisa Mohammed.

The timely win by our women comes on the heels of the success of the Under 19 team who are the world champions in the 50 Over version of the game, and was followed by the tremendous men’s game and their spirited comeback as Carlos Brathwaite hit four consecutive sixes. We have winning role models in all categories. Our women, men and youths continue to keep our people mobilized and united through our unique brand of regionalism. Through them, we are all Champions.
