UNC: Shameless Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing is “out of place”
The parent of a Port of Spain child who received a used laptop from Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing was absolutely correct to remark that the PNM PRO was “out of place” in her remarks to them.
At the event which was to be focused on the children, Lezama-Lee Sing exhorted parents, “You must lift your voices in denouncing the Opposition for its role in trying to diminish the role that Minister Young has played. He is your member of Parliament and I encourage you to support him,” according to news reports. No wonder parents though Lezama-Lee Sing was out of place.
This is typical of Stuart Young and the PNM. While companies connected to Young’s family members receive contracts involving an estimated $2.5 BILLION from the Government – so much that he had to recuse himself for a record of 57 times from Cabinet meetings – he gets someone else to distribute a pathetic 14 laptops (refurbished!) to the needy families in his constituency.
Furthermore, when he does so, he has his proxy tell them that they must lend their political support in exchange for these gifts.
Under Kamla Persad-Bissessar, from 2010-14, 95,000 NEW laptops were distributed to ALL children entering secondary school.
In 2015, Stuart Young took the laptops away. Now, in 2021, he is giving them 14 old laptops and telling parents they must support him in the Opposition’s upcoming Motion of No-Confidence against him. This is truly shameless.
Indeed, of all persons, Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing is the last person who should be speaking about the PNM’s education policy.
She received almost $500,000 from the PNM’s “secret scholarships” from the Ministry of Culture to study for her LLB (Law and Politics) at the University of Westminster in London. And she did not even graduate.
Lezama Lee-Sing must not only apologise to the country, but she must repay the taxpayers of this country every cent of that dishonestly obtained and dishonestly employed scholarship money.
Imagine how many NEW laptops could be distributed using that $500,000. This is the discrimination and unfairness that characterizes everything that Stuart Young and his PNM party does.
The majority of Trinidadians did not vote for Stuart Young and the PNM, and we have absolutely No Confidence in him.
