The trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (t&tec) hosted a ceremony to mark the completion of a $846,383.00 lighting project at the Brickfield Recreation Ground on Tuesday.
Minister of Public Utilities, Nizam Baksh in his feature address said, “The illumination of any recreation ground marks a new beginning in a community, a chance to build cohesion among families and neighbours and to implement activities and events that could positively affect lives from the youngest child to the oldest among us.” He drew special attention to the issue of physical inactivity, the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality, and urged residents to use the newly lit recreational facility to promote healthy lifestyles.
Couva North MP, Ramona Ramdial expressed her gratitude to Baksh and his Ministry together with T&TEC and reiterated her aim of having every recreational ground in the constituency illuminated by 2015. She said that “with these new lights, the community will now be able to benefit from and enjoy nightly sporting and recreational activities.”
Ramdial praised the residents of Brickfield for being proactive and assisting her in a number of developmental projects for their community and reaffirmed her commitment to continue working to effectively represent the people of Couva North.
