UNC Chairman Lee – Yet another young life lost as Government abandons the nation in the fight against crime
The recent murder of 16 year old Rachel Ramkissoon further demonstrates the decay of our society and evolution of our Twin Island Republic into a land of lawlessness where there is no respect for human life as yet another young girl has been robbed of a bright future and life of brilliant possibilities.
It was only one month ago when the nation was shell shocked by the gruesome murder of Shannon Bannfield who was found dead in a department store. So our nation has reached the point where are citizens are no longer safe in stores, public places, their own neighborhoods, using public transportation and conducting the same day to day business they once did freely in the past.
It is quite ironic and unfortunate that as our citizens lose their peace of mind and continue to desperately clamour for some form of relief or solution to this “national catastrophe” Government continues to abandon the population in the fight against crime and all endeavours to protect their lives .
For the past months the Opposition has sought the Government’s indulgence to discuss crime through Definite Urgent Matters , Questions and even in the Debate on on the motion to Appoint a member to the PSC the opposition attempted to raise the issue of crime but on every single instant the Government has used the standing orders to flee from every single discussion on making a safer nation for our citizens.
So the questions must be posed to the Government ; ” Why have you abandoned the citizens in the fight against crime ? How can we protect our nation when those in charge of the resources to do so continue to run ?”
Our nation now exists in the unfortunate predicament of asking itself “Where do we go from here?” With every Parliamentary sitting it’s is clear the Government has its priorities poorly aligned because there has been no legislation to protect and benefit the average tax payer.
Is Government only committed to policies which benefit the elite , return political favours and ignore the cry of the burdened citizen?
