Paray Condemns PM Rowley Distasteful Portrayal of MP Charles

EVEN by the low public speaking standards he has set for himself, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley’s depiction of my colleague Rodney Charles is highly objectionable.

While Dr. Rowley has continued to lower the bar with respect to his public behaviour, his repulsive and distasteful portrayal of MP Charles is abhorrent and appalling.

On behalf of my parliamentary colleagues and all right-thinking people of Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean, I condemn the Prime Minister’s shocking and vile statement.

Mr. Charles is an elected member of the House of Representatives, a parliamentary colleague of Dr. Rowley, and a long-serving and distinguished public officer.

He has routinely challenged the Prime Minister on matters of interest to his constituents and the entire society, to which Dr. Rowley has been dismissive and haughty.

It has long been clear that the Prime Minister does not want his authoritarian administration to be held to account.

Even more than that, Dr. Rowley has failed to become measured and deliberate even in his mid-seventies and continues to revive memories of Patrick Manning’s stark illustration of him.

His characterisation of MP Charles is gross and reprehensible.
