Oropouche East stands in solidarity with the people of Guyana
It is with a heavy heart I learned about the devastating fire that tragically claimed the lives of several students and causing injuries to many others at the Mahdia Secondary school in Guyana. This heartbreaking incident has deeply affected us all, and we stand united with the people of Guyana during this incredibly challenging time.
Losing young lives in such a tragic manner is a profound loss for families, communities, and the entire nation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims who are experiencing unimaginable grief and pain.
As neighboring nations, we share not only geographical proximity but also a bond of friendship and solidarity. In times of tragedy, I encourage the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to stand in solidarity with the people of Guyana during this difficult time. Let us come together as a region to support and uplift each other in the face of adversity.
The loss of these young lives is a reminder of the preciousness of every individual, and signals the importance of the safety and well-being of our students in educational institutions across the Caribbean.
Once again, I express my deepest sympathies to the families affected by this devastating incident. May they find the strength and resilience to overcome their pain and may the souls of the departed students rest in eternal peace.
With heartfelt condolences,
Dr. Roodal Moonilal, M.P.
