Charles: Rowley nastying our name while blaming the Opposition
Yesterday PM Rowley accused the Opposition Leader of “writing all over the world and nastying up TT’s name” but no one nasties TT’s reputation more than Rowley and his incompetent, negligent, uncaring PNM administration who have cursed TT since their appointment.
Rowley and his band of merryman have spent the past seven years in office destroying and wreaking havoc on TT’s international image.
From abandoning our citizens in Barbados when our borders were closed in 2020, or failing our women and children trapped in Syria, or Rowley’s cosy friendship with Maduro, or TT’s numerous negative travel advisories.
Under your leadership Dr Rowley, the US trafficking in Persons report stated that high ranking Government officials were involved in human trafficking in 2020 and the Government had made no convictions.
Rowley and his Ministers have made TT the 6th most criminal country worldwide, with unprecedented levels of crime, gang activity and brutality. It is plain for all nations to see. No one needs to write a letter for them to know this.
His AGs’ are losing cases at the Privy Council with the entire Commonwealth looking on. It is no one’s fault but your own that you passed laws which infringed the democratic rights of our citizens. You put TT on the Commonwealth’s radar with that.
It is under Rowley’s watch that a TT citizen was “kidnapped” in Barbados by TTPS officers who needed Government approval to act outside our borders.
In stark contrast, while Kamla Persad Bissessar was PM, world leaders including Xi Jin Ping and then VP Biden visited TT. We were Chair of the Commonwealth. We had a voice, to which the global community paid attention.
We had a seat at the table. No longer. We are now part of the menu.
Recently the world witnessed President Ali of Guyana in solidarity with his citizens after the heartbreaking loss of 19 of their young girls. Compare this to Rowley’s treatment of the divers and their families in the Paria tragedy.
It is high time that Rowley acts like a leader deserving of international stature like his CARICOM counterparts, like Mia Mottley and Irfaan Ali. Instead, he continues to do a hell of a good job of nastying TT’s international image and blaming others.
