MP Ameen partners with Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints
Member of Parliament for St. Augustine, Khadijah Ameen expressed gratitude to the ‘Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints’ for providing support to families affected by the severe flooding in December 2022. They have shown a strong dedication to helping those in need by supplying relief packages which included pots pans and other kitchen utensils.
Earlier today MP Ameen together with Assistant Communications Officer Rebecca Xavier, Councillor Seema Ramsaran, Councillor Richard Rampersad and representatives of the St. Augustine South and Bamboo #2 Collage Councils held distribution of these care packages at two venues:
· 9am – St. Augustine South Community Centre, Freeman Rd, St. Augustine South
· 11am- Bamboo#2 Primary School, Jaffar Street Bamboo #2, Valsayn
MP Ameen lamented that four months after the flood, over 80% of flood victims are yet to receive flood relief grants from the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services despite her repeated calls for the Ministry to be more efficient. The MP is appealing to Non-Governmental organizations, religious organizations and private citizens to continue providing support to the victims of the flooding.
