INDARSINGH: Working Class Paying for Economic Mismanagement
Recent reports indicate that the Central Statistical Office Retail Price Index has stated that food and drink prices in January 2023 are 17.33% higher than in January 2022.
These reports are insanely worrisome and reflect a portion of the economic hardship that workers across the country have been undergoing under the current Rowley-led Government.
It is a clear indication of how challenging it has become for average families to now put basic food on their table.
The Retail Price Index, which tracks the increases in food and drink prices also indicated that the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were 17.32 per cent higher in December 2022 than in December 2021, and that such prices were 25.04 per cent higher than in January 2021.
Reports that the cost of transportation in January 2023 was 14 per cent higher than the year before also clearly illustrated the stresses upon the working class.
More and more, we see evidence, qualitative and quantitative, of the hardships imposed by this villainous government, which remains unapologetic for its sins against the population.
These hardships will be intensified by the imminent increases in electricity rates, which are being orchestrated by this government with the full support of a slate of politically compromised commissioners at the Regulated Industries Commission.
These figures given by the Retail Price Index are a clear indication of how economically vexatious any further increases in electricity rates, food, and transportation will be.
Even more vexing and insulting is the sense of abandonment that citizens feel from this government, which has failed constantly to bring any relief, strategy, or improvement to the country’s economic hardship.
The working class continues to pay the price for the arrogance, wickedness, and incompetence of what has become this nation’s worst Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, and the nation’s worst ever government.
