Kamla places UNC on alert as Tropical Storm Gonzalo approaches T&T
As our country braces for the effects of Tropical Storm Gonzalo, the United National Congress advises that all campaign activities have been immediately suspended until further notice.
Political Leader of the UNC, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, is urging all citizens to remain vigilant, pay close attention to alerts from the relevant authorities and be prepared.
The Met Office has upgraded the weather alert to Orange Alert.
“I call upon all UNC Officials, Candidates, activists, friends, families and supporters to be on alert to render any assistance which may become necessary as a result of adverse weather conditions,” the UNC Leader said. “I also want to urge all of you to follow all safety guidelines.”
“The UNC stands ready to assist in all affected areas, as we have done on previous occasions,” she said. “In the constituencies that are not held by the UNC, we have put mechanisms in place to provide assistance where possible.”
“It is up to each of us to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers,” Mrs Persad-Bissessar said. “As we hope for the best, let us ensure that we are prepared for any eventuality. God bless Trinidad and Tobago.”
