Did Minister Young Prevent Divers Families from Testifying at the CoE?
The obscene action by Paria’s Attorney Mr. Gilbert Peterson, SC, to object to the families of the deceased divers from testifying at the Commission of Enquiry is outrageous and a slap in the face to both the victims of this tragedy as well as the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
The purpose of this CoE, which is being paid for by taxpayers which include the families of the victims, is to get to the truth about what happened on that fateful day. The families of the victims were present at the Paria compound on the weekend of the tragedy and their story must be heard.
One can only assume that Mr Peterson is acting on instructions, therefore line Minister for Paria Fuel, Minister Stuart Young must publicly say whether he instructed Mr Peterson to act in this manner or whether the board at Paria Fuel is now a “runaway board” acting of their own volition.
This latest fiasco as well as the refusal by Minister Stuart Young to appear before the CoE, makes it abundantly clear that the Rowley Government is using the CoE as a means to absolve themselves of all responsibility in the Paria tragedy.
