New legislation to empower citizens

I must agree with Mr. Lennox Grant when he stated that “The T&T I know is easily capable of failing to acknowledge any duty of care for people who won elected office and for others who were selected as Senators, most of whom thereafter vanish into invisibility. Former (members of parliament) MPs are not thought to have knowledge, wisdom or value, to impart. Apart from the pro bono Parliament Channel, nobody wants to hear from them.”
For this reason, the PNM Senator Camille Robinson-Regis made the comment about the two pension bills “resulted in some rats coming out of their holes.” This sparked national controversy, whilst the PNM party’s support for their own increases in pension, but non-support of other crime-fighting legislation led to widespread outrage. We all want an increase in salary but the PNM MPs have shown they want it at any cost. Therein is where the problem resides.
Thank god the bill for the right to recall MPs will soon be discussed in Parliament. Thanks to the PP government and our Attorney General, the population will now be empowered to drive out non-performing and self-serving MP’s.
