Gone were the days when we longed to be like the United States of America (US). T&T being a developing country has in the past always followed in the footsteps of the US. I was very happy to see that legislation for finger printing deportees will be introduced here in T&T similar to that of the US.
We have enough crime already. It would be nice to be able to easily identify those who are more susceptible to committing crimes.
While to me this seems as an excellent initiative purely because it has statistical evidence of working in the US, others have been debating of whether it makes sense to implement in T&T or not.
In my view, anything that can legally reduce crime and increase our mediocre detection rate is very much welcomed. Maybe our society is maturing and wants to be much more innovative than the US.
