UNC Stands in Support of MP Lee against Trumped-up Charges

The UNC is aware of the spurious and trumped up charges concerning MP David Lee. In fact, the Political Leader spoke of this issue a couple of weeks ago in the UNC Virtual Report.

This is the typical PNM playbook with complicit operatives within the police service designed to embarrass and defame.

As usual the case will roll on in the local court system for the next 20 years until MP Lee will be eventually cleared of the trumped up charges.

A blind man could have seen this type of banana republic persecution from the day Keith Rowley and the President illegally caused the Police Service Commision Merit List to be withdrawn. Keith Rowley’s unconstitutional interference in the work of the Police Service Commission for the appointment of a COP is now bearing fruit for the PNM.
It is a deliberate, calculated and well-timed distraction by agents of the PNM to save the government from unrelenting condemnation by the population. This is the start of a reign of terror that we warned about. It comes when the UNC and other opposition voices are in the ascendancy.

We will never be hounded and bullied into silence. We will continue to speak out and attack this corrupt and incompetent PNM government by the hour!
The Chief Whip is innocent and will be vindicated at the courts . We demand that this matter be dealt with expeditiously.

In the meanwhile we have questions as to why no arrests have been made with regard to former Attorney-General Faris Al-Rawi’s apparently fraudulent sale of his Porsche to former Police Service Commissioner, Roger Kawalsingh

Or what of the matter involving some children with high-powered rifles. To this day we don’t know who those children are and neither does Faris Al-Rawi. Connected to this is the curious death of a soldier who was a witness in the matter. We need an update on this long-outstanding matter.

We also have questions as to the status of the investigations into Keith Rowley’s non-declaration of his Inez Gate townhouses purchased at a discount. Keith Rowley himself confirmed that he is under investigation. What is the status of this?

And what about the ongoing investigations into Camille Robinson-Regis’s $143,800 cash deposited in RBL account number 260009902731, about which she was caught giving misinformation? How many years has this investigation not been concluded?

And what about the investigation into Keith Rowley’s unconstitutional and illegal interference in the selection of a Police Commissioner? Senator David Nakhid has written the DPP seven times about this matter, and has not even received an acknowledgement!

We do not accept this biased, politicised system of prosecution.

The UNC does not expect anything different from the current leadership of the Police Service who seem to be working very closely with the PNM, even openly in press conferences.

There is no evidence to support the allegations against MP Lee, and thus the police and PNM desperately resorted to the trumped up charge of conspiracy.

Any right thinking person would ask why would MP Lee do any of what he is accused of when there was no benefit to be accrued by him. It just does not make any sense.
In fact former COP Gary Griffith has already warned about the government’s instructions to harass and investigate opposition MPs in his letter to the DPP dated 15 September 2022. Therefore, this fiasco concerning MP Lee was expected.

As a result of Rowley’s control of the selection of the Commissioner of Police, we anticipate further political arrests and distractions coming soon.

We will fight these to the end, defend our democracy, and defend the rights of all our citizens from this oppressive, dictatorial PNM Government.
