UNC – Rowley needs a reality check; he’s disconnected from the needs of citizens
Last night’s PNM Public Meeting in Chaguanas East is the latest indication that Keith Rowley and his Government are incapable of governing our country.
Instead of addressing the issues affecting people, including a worsening water crisis, escalating crime, massive job losses and a stagnant economy, Rowley went on incoherent tirade that lasted almost an hour and a half, during which he was unable to tell us what his Government did in four years to improve the lives of citizens.
He is blatantly out of touch with reality and does not care about the people of this country. It is clear that Rowley and his “followers” to use the words of the Planning Minister, are determined to convince citizens that we are still living in their warped version of 2015, and what’s worse – that he has plans to create a “new” reality if the PNM returns to power following the next General Election.
This Keith Rowley version of the PNM has no clue how to govern, and hope to cover their shortcomings and their incompetence with lies and distractions.
Rowley resorted to his usual tactic of casting aspersions on the UNC and former Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, and had not a single achievement to speak about, or a single plan to deal with the economic crisis that his Government has managed to put us in.
It is quite shameful that four members of a sitting Cabinet and their leader can get on a platform and ignore that people can no longer get pipe-borne water in the country. The fact is they are failing on the basics of what a government is supposed to provide.
Rowley shamelessly admitted that under his watch, the entire country is now plagued by criminal elements, and no one is safe, and offered no solution.
While making a show of “going after corruption” Rowley has failed to act on allegations plaguing his own administration.
Right now, an individual who was convicted by the courts of crime remains a member of the Government Senate bench. A person who has openly associated with suspected gang members continues to operate as a Cabinet Minister. The Rowley led government also consists of a member whose family has received a multi-million-dollar lease from the very Cabinet of which he is a member.
After listening to Rowley’s rant, many citizens feel betrayed and abandoned. The population was made to understand that this is not a leader who cares about the daily struggles of the average citizen, he is a Prime Minister for the few and not the many.
The UNC calls on Rowley once again to call the elections now. This PNM Government has failed, and the citizens of this country deserve good governance, which a UNC Government, led by Kamla Persad-Bissessar can and will provide.
