UNC: No Connection with Senator Ashvani Mahabir and Leaks

The United National Congress unequivocally denies assertions and insinuations made with respect to Senator Ashvani Mahabir in an article titled “Kamla upset over UNC leaks” published in the Sunday Guardian of June 2, 2019.
A statement issued by UNC PRO Senator Anita Haynes noted the following:
Mrs. Persad Bissessar confirms that she did indeed have a meeting with Senator Mahabir but their conversation had nothing to do with questions about a leak of confidential information. The Political Leader also said that at no time was Senator Mahabir “asked questions about a leak of confidential information related to the April debate” as the article alleges or at all. Indeed, Mr. Mahabir was not a member of the Senate in April.
Mrs Persad Bissessar is on record as stating that her conversation with Senator Mahabir had nothing to do with the leaking of confidential information.
