UNC National Women’s Arm PRO: DPP Must Act

On May 20th 2013, then Opposition Leader Keith Rowley misled Parliament about a plot by then PM Kamla Persad Bissessar. The conspiracy being a plot to harm and discredit reporter Denyse Renne, undermine the office of the DPP and pay monies in exchange for freedom by an unnamed person.
The 31 email thread included a conversation that comprised four persons whose email accounts proved similar to PM, Anand Ramlogan, then National Security Advisor Gary Griffith and Government Minister Suruj Rambachan. In 2013, Rowley said he approached President George Maxwell Richards and then Integrity Commission Chairman, Kenneth Gordon, six months earlier.
Both Google Inc. and the Integrity Commission indicated that the emails were false. The police completed its report in 2016, essentially indicating that the conspiracy did not exist. The report was then forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard who recused himself since he was a material witness appointing Deputy DPP Joan Honore-Paul to handle the matter.
Another one of the long-unresolved ”gates” have been closed by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service today this time Emailgate!
More than six years after, then Opposition Leader , Dr. Keith Rowley introduced a thread of supposed email messages, purporting to be a conversation between senior members of the PP government, the investigation has been closed.
This was an obvious case of political dirty tricks and we are calling on the Director of Public Prosecutions to now aim his sights on the man who brought the documents to light! What was the point of the investigation if no one is going to be charged? It further proves that the man who brought these emails to the Parliament cannot be trusted! We have had lies, corruption and bluffing for the past four years by this Administration!
The United National Congress National Women’s Arm calls on Rowley to do the honorable thing and exit Office by calling the elections because this Government is based on lies and propaganda! The citizens of Trinidad and Tobago deserves a Government with honesty and integrity and the United National Congress under the astute Leadership of Mrs Kamla Persad Bissessar is ready to serve the citizens!
