Transparency in government affairs

It’s heart-warming to see that a junior minister in the government wanted to ensure that there is integrity while doing business in government even when the stakes are high for taking such a stance. Minister Roopnarine reported her senior to the prime minister when she had concerns about corruption in the awarding of contracts for the Curepe Interchange project.
In past administrations, hundreds of cases like these were swept under the rug due to cabinet responsibility. It’s good to see that she was eventually apprised of all the facts and that no corruption existed in the process. It’s progressive to see that there can be transparency in the running of government affairs.
