Rowley Telling Lies Again

Once again, we find the leader of the opposition making outrageous claims without providing any information to back up serious charges. The United National Congress (UNC) demands that Dr Keith Rowley immediately produce the evidence to support his most recent allegatiuon. If he cannot do that then we demand an apology.

On Monday Dr. Rowley called a news conference to allege that someone asked for a $40 million bribe from a contractor but did not provide any evidence and could not name the contractor.

“And I can tell you that one of the bidding processes, the lowest bidder was approached for a $40 million bribe. And when the bidder could not entertained it, the project was shelved,” he told reporters.

At the same time he undressed himself when he demanded to know who is the contractor selected to carry out the project, what process was used to select the contractor, what the bids were.

Dr Rowley was as usual making up a story since the CDA’s CEO Joclyn Hargreaves knocked down the allegations and told the Express newspaper there has been no project within the CDA with that level expenditure in the past ten years.

She also said phase two of the boardwalk project was less than this claim and made it clear that there is full accountability and transparency through public tendering process. The process, she said, was fully compliant with the tendering policy.

Dr Rowley is known for telling lies and making reckless charges without providing any evidence to support his wild allegations hoping a gullible public would believe his lies.

His most recent lies have been a charge that the highway to Point Fortin would end in Penal and that the Manning PNM government had started the highway construction project. Both are lies. Work on the highway is already progressing at the Point Fortin end and it was the PP government that started the highway extension project in January 2011.

Once again, Dr Rowley is telling lies and making sensational accusations about corruption. We demand an immediate apology since it is clear that Dr. Rowley cannot provide the evidence to support his irresponsible charges that are meant to undermine the government.
