Resignation the more appropriate option for Gordon
Ken Gordon should uphold integrity by resigning!
Whether he accepts it or not, Ken Gordon, by his own admission, has become the central figure in this lingering emailgate scandal. Perhaps by the “slip of the mouth” on several occasions, he alluded to the fact that he did meet Leader of the Opposition Dr Keith Rowley at his backyard and invited him “for a drink”.
Any democratic thinking person would have thought any sensitive matter concerning State-related issues would have had certain protocol procedures to follow as it relates to meeting with public personalities such as the Opposition Leader and the Integrity Commission chairman.
In the glaring eyes of public opinions, these “private meetings”, by admission of these two gentlemen, should never had happened and have now belittled and ridiculed the ethics of these esteemed offices.
It is becoming obviously bemusing to all Trinbagonians to now hear Ken Gordon’s persistent attempts to play this “Heckle and Jeckle” role to perfection by unconvincing swaying from overwhelming, agitated calls for his resignation to his stubborn, selfish quest to hold on to the chairmanship of the integrity office.
Now, after all his and Dr Rowley’s washing of their “dirty laundry” in public, his pig-headed stance to recuse himself from any involvement in any investigation into this lingering emailgate scandal is nothing short of slaps in the faces of all right-thinking people. Surely under these circumstances, Mr Gordon should deflate his “hot air” balloon filled with pride and consider resignation as more appropriate.
This self-centred behaviour reminds us all of the “proverbial snake” who hides in the grass, when everyone thinks it is safe, only to pounce on the next unsuspecting passerby. Go ahead, recuse yourself now, but remember that all Trinbagonians are not as foolish as you think we are!
