THE EDITOR: Please permit me the opportunity to extend best wishes to the 18,039 students who will write the Language Arts and Mathematics components of the SEA exam today.
My niece will be one of these students who will write the exam. As a nation, I would like us to collectively say a prayer for each one of them.
I would like to also thank all the teachers who have worked tirelessly to prepare our children for this day. It is a job that really goes unnoticed and unappreciated at times. Furthermore, I would like to express thanks to the Ministry of Education and its Minister Tim Gopeesingh for the changes made to the SEA exam, in particular the change in the date of the examination to May.
I had seen first hand with my niece the difference the extra time can have on a child’s readiness for the exam.
In addition, I would like to express my support for the Continuous Assessment Component, which I believe can be beneficial to all students similar to the SBA component at CSEC exams. Kudos to you Minister and our staff.
