Padarath Tells AG Lead by Example, Let Camille Explain Her Wealth
Princes Town MP Barry Padarath, in a press release slammed Attorney General Farris Al Rawi and members of the government for not leading by example with respect to the Attorney General’s statements that he will be bringing Explain Your Wealth legislation to the Parliament.
Padarath stated that recently the newspapers reported that Minister Camille Robinson Regis did not explain to First Citizens Bank what her source of funds was for a deposit of over $148,000 in cash. It went on to say that when the Minister was pressed on the issue she responded by saying “write what you want the matter is closed”.
He further argued that the government appeared to be saying one thing and doing another. He called on the Leader of Government Business in the Parliament to lead by example and explain her wealth and failure to do so, she must resign both as a Minister of Government and a Member of Parliament.
The Princes Town MP stated that the Attorney General and other government members cannot be judge and jury in this matter.
He added that if government was serious about Explain Your Wealth legislation, let them lead by example. The Leader of Government business and the Attorney General cannot tell this country that there is one law for them and another for everyone else.
Padarath indicated that the continuous blunders by the Attorney General with respect to the contradictions in his pronouncement and his actions in this matter warrant an explanation as to why Minister Camille Robinson Regis is still in office.
