As Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said in 2013, “Anytime a Government resorts to blaming the Opposition for its failure to deliver on their mandate and their responsibilities to the people, it is a clear sign that they have outlived their usefulness.”
One can just look at a chart of the number of murders over the past 20 years and it’s easy to see that whenever the PNM is in office, crime always skyrockets out of control.
The lowest levels of crime has always been under a UNC led administration because we do not waste time blaming others like Minister Young, but we focus on the task at hand.
The Government still has to explain why the Procurement Legislation was watered down despite calls against it from numerous other stakeholders. The Government has sought to exempt from punishment many unscrupulous actions that continue to fuel crime such as the unfair awarding of state contracts.
After recusing himself over 50 times from the Cabinet because of conflicts of interest worth billions of dollars, Minister Young may have some insight as to why the Procurement Legislation was watered down. Again, we call for the original Procurement Legislation to be returned to the Parliament if the Government is serious about fighting crime.
The Government through Minister Young continues to attempt to blame everyone else for their incompetence while citizens must face the reality of this incompetence on the ground. Ineffective leadership coupled with little to no social programs by this Government only fuels the crime wave.
Everyday citizens are on the front lines ravaged by criminal elements and all the Minister of National Security can do is “play the victim”
As Dr. Rowley said, by blaming the Opposition it is a clear sign that the Government has outlived their usefulness.
Stuart Young has been the most ineffective and useless Minister of National Security as his only action has been to blame everyone else for his failures. Because of this, he should resign forthwith for as long as he stays in office, criminals will continue to run rampant.
We also take this opportunity to extend best wishes to everyone for this holiday season and urge everyone to continue following all health regulations as we keep each other safe.
