New community centre opened in Vessigny
The communities of Vessigny, La Brea and Point Fortin are set to benefit from the opening of the brand new Vessigny Community Centre on Monday November 24, 2014. The Honourable Winston ‘Gypsy’ Peters, Minister of Community Development delivered the feature address and formally commission the new facility located at Vessigny Recreation Ground, Access Road, Vessigny Village, La Brea, Point Fortin.
The opening of this new community centre is expected to foster new growth in Vessigny, as a mutual place of learning and meeting will be restored. Infrastructural work will continue, along with a focus on developing the people, which is the most valuable resource to any society.
The opening of this new centre is part of the Ministry’s Community Centre/Facilities Construction and Refurbishment Programme which continues to be a catalyst for social change where everyone has something to contribute towards the growth and development of one’s community. The centre is a focal point of activities where citizens meet, plan and execute programmes to generate growth and build resilient communities. The Programme is geared towards meeting the changing needs and aspirations of an increasing population.
