MP Ramdial Congratulates Scholarship Winners
I would like extend congratulations to all scholarship winners, especially the President’s medal winners who are both girls; Raquel LeBlanc of St Joseph’s Convent and Priya Maraj of Lakshmi Girls Hindu School. Lakshmi Girls being my alma mater, I would like to specially congratulate Priya for copping the distinguished award and bringing national recognition to her school.
On Tuesday the United Nations’ International Day of the Girl Child was observed, its mission being “to help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential.” The girls in Trinidad & Tobago who have excelled academically have demonstrated the potential of girls and shine as examples to the younger ones following in their footsteps.
The People’s Partnership Government (PPG) had prioritized Education, allocating the largest portion of annual budgets towards it and ensured that free education was provided for all boys and girls up to the tertiary level. The successful students we see today are a product of the educational infrastructure laid by the PPG and we continue to support development of Education as #1 priority in our country.
