MP Mohit: Expedite backlog of applications at the Nariva/Mayaro Local Board
Consequent to the appointment and presentation of instruments of appointment to the Board Members of tbe Nariva/Mayaro Local Board, it is hopefully anticipated that such appointments would redound to the overall benefits to the people of the region.
It is expected, therefore that those selected wi ll display impartial i ty, fairness and transparency in their deliberations to those applying for Social Services Grants. For too long because of narrow, partisan and political reasons deserving persons have suffered by denial of their rightful entitlements to such benefits under the facilities offered by the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services.
Additionally, it is expected that the Board immediately settles in to their responsibilities and quickly address the backlog of applications which has arisen through the absence of such appointments to the Local Boards.
Deserving persons have been forced to needlessly await processing of their applications because of the absence of such Boards in recent times. Therefore, given this uncaring government’s tardiness and lackadaisical approach to the business of the poor and vulnerable they have unnecessarily suffered through the inactions of the government of the day.
Relief must therefore be immediate without bias and any preconceived notions.
