MP Charles: PM Rowley continues to embarrass TT on the international stage
Last night at the PNM’s Virtual Post Budget Meet Up at Belmont, PM Rowley dubbed UK MP Steve Baker, as an “itinerant UK MP” after Mr Baker’s call for the TT Government to bring its citizens home.
The Prime Minister continues to provoke our international allies and create tensions, whilst refusing to take responsibility for our citizens stranded abroad.
This forms a pattern where anyone who disagrees with him is a UNC agent, unpatriotic, or acting against the interests of TT.
This is becoming an unfortunate and ill-conceived habit of this incompetent Government.
They supported a boycott of a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to which they were not even invited.
They taunted the US by saying what Trump could ‘do we’?
A US Ambassador to TT was pointedly insulted by Dr Rowley for rightly placing on record his Government’s disappointment with TT’s stance on Venezuela.
The Prime Minister chastised the BBC for its coverage of the Venezuelan migrant crisis.
He scolded the British and other countries for issuing negative travel advisories against T&T.
He threatened to pen a letter of complaint against UN representatives in T&T for their disapproval with how TT was treating Venezuelan refugees.
In Chile at the start of his administration the PM criticized Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS, for being opposed to Maduro.
AG Al Rawi roundly criticized the EU for placing TT on a new blacklist for deficiencies in our anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing frameworks.
We have experienced region wide embarrassment under Moses when T&T was the only country to object to a plea by Dominica for waiver of fees to the OAS.
They went against our Rio Treaty allies and said that TT was not bound by recent decisions made under it.
The number of instances that TT has been given a negative image on the international platform due to this PNM administration’s bullying tactics is infinite. It is evident that TT’s foreign policy under Keith Rowley is nothing short of absolute failure.
Clearly we cannot survive with an isolationist policy of “cussing everyone”.
It does not make sense to isolate TT internationally whilst cosying up to the Maduro regime, especially Delcy Rodriguez.
