MP Ameen questions Government delay to implement Local Government Reform
Member of Parliament for St. Augustine, Ms. Khadijah Ameen raised concerns over the failure to implement the Local Government Reform changes that were promised by the Prime Minister during his LGE 2023 campaign. Speaking at an Opposition Press Briefing alongside Senator David Nakhid, MP Ameen stated that there has been no substantial progress in implementing the LG Reform Legislation that was touted as a solution to many of our local government issues.
The St. Augustine MP also questioned the Prime Minister’s budget debate contribution last month where he chastised the UNC’s Community Comfort Patrol initiative. She says that in 2020, the Prime Minister reintroduced the program retaining the same companies used by the UNC six years earlier. The MP also highlighted ways that Local Government and Regional Corporations can make communities safer.
