MOONILAL: TIDE TURNING IN UNC’S FAVOUR
UNC Deputy Political Leader Dr. Roodal Moonilal says the party is not ignoring polls that show Jack Warner’s Independent Labour Party (ILP) ahead of them.
Dr. Moonilal was part of the team on walkabout duty at Cacandee Road with candidate Khadijah Ameen on Tuesday.
He said the party is confident that momentum in the hotly-contested seat is swinging their way.
He also explained the party is not afraid since Mr. Warner’s campaign peaked a week ago.
“We take the polls very seriously of course. We take note of the poll and we work with that. But I think the tide is turning now into the UNC and with five or seven days to go again, there is now a tide turning. There is a swing coming and I think we are on the right side of that tide.”
With the UNC Chaguanas West candidate Khadijah Ameen flanked by a throng of yellow-clad supporters seeking to reassure voters, Dr. Moonilal said Ms. Ameen will continue to focus on the little things that could make the difference on Election Day.
“A lot of people have made up their mind on voting so I really don’t think it will make much difference. I think it’s more of the house to house campaign now and speaking to our voters and reassuring them and we are getting an extremely positive response in these areas. So we are confident.”
Dr. Moonilal told C News that the party remains confident of victory and has not considered the consequences of losing what he called a crucial seat.
