Minor Landslip along Golconda to Debe section of Highway
Please be advised that a small landslip has developed, approximately 400 metres south of the Papourie Road Underpass, on the southbound carriageway of the Solomon Hochoy Highway Extension to Point Fortin.
Preliminary assessments indicate that this was caused by water seeping into the bottom of the embankment due to incomplete concrete drains in the area.
Although the highway segments have been opened to the public, some drainage works are still in progress. Once these works are completed, the public can be assured that this situation is not expected to re-occur.
The Contractors are currently carrying out repair works and have also been instructed to complete the highway drainage works with the greatest urgency.
The travelling public is hereby advised that this land slippage in no way affects the recently opened Golconda Interchange, or any other structures along the Highway.
The Golconda to Debe section of the Solomon Hochoy Highway Extension to Point Fortin project continues to be fully functional.
All precautions are being taken by NIDCO and its contractors to ensure that proper Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards are maintained.
