Jack: I’ll file papers as UNC candidate for by-election
Former MP Jack Warner has revealed the day he intends to file nomination papers to be a candidate for the UNC for the upcoming by-election for the Chaguanas West seat.
Speaking to the media at the start of a walkabout yesterday evening at Munroe Road Junction, Chaguanas, Warner said he would file the papers on Thursday at 1.30 pm at Rienzi Complex, Couva. Warner is redoubling campaign efforts following the results of an ANSA McAL poll in the Sunday Guardian which put him as the most popular candidate to win the upcoming by-election.
He said he was “happy” with the ANSA McAL poll but he would not allow the poll results to make “cavalier” or ease the pace of his campaign. He said his camp would be boosting its efforts and reaching out to all voters in the constituency. The T&T Guardian understands that a representative from Warner’s team collected nomination forms for the former national security minister at UNC headquarters, Rienzi Complex, Couva over the weekend.
Two potential candidates, who are set to oppose Warner in the Chaguanas West by-election, also retrieved their nomination forms as well. However those forms are yet to be returned to Rienzi Complex to confirm their candidacy. Officials at the UNC headquarters were tightlipped about the two candidates planning to oppose Warner for the seat.
