A CABAL – A small group of secret plotters, as against a government or person in authority.
Every Gov’t has an inner-circle of members who are considered trustworthy and seek to promote the agenda of said Gov’t. When issues are to be raised they get together and do their brainstorming sessions and sort out the kinks before going out to the larger membership. This PP Coalition is no different.
I am sure the previous Governments in T&T had their ‘inner-circle’. In the PNM regime Lenny Saith was not an elected official yet he was considered the right-hand man to PM Manning; and when Mr. Manning left T&T it was Lenny Saith he entrusted to act as P.M.; not Dr. Rowley, Colm Imbert, or Mrs. Hazel Manning, etc. I stand corrected.
As far as I am aware Jack Warner belonged to this ‘inner-circle’ he has since leaving turned to labeling a “cabal” with a derogatory tone.
When we watched the antics – performance of J.W. as Minister in both Ministries we saw him out and about doing his own thing. Many times the P.M. had to run after him to clarify situations and clean up the chaos JW had created.
Had Warner used his colleagues in the ‘inner-circle’ as a sounding board, we may not have experienced so much chaos under his watch.
Now many who are aiming to criticise the Gov’t have picked up Warner’s agenda and are running with it. Many in the COP who have been critical of the PP Coalition has been raising their issues over the past 3 years, and now they have added the “cabal” to their List of Complaints.
What I find very unsettling is that the interim Chair of the ILP met with members of the COP to raise issues with them prior to their meeting with the P.M. to discuss issues associated with their claim to be COP’s in this Coalition. Have these COP members no scruples? Morality and Spirituality took a holiday?
But why was it necessary for them to meet with the ‘Jumping Jack’ (PNM-UNC-COP) now interim Chair of the ILP Robin Montano?
Were their agenda of discussion with the P.M. COP’s concerns or a joint venture of COP/ILP attempting to destabilise the PP Coalition? Is Warner’s deep pockets infiltrating the COP’s sanctuary?
Warner could no longer control the PP Coalition and submitted his Letter of Resignation and the P.M. accepted same. But he appears to be experiencing ‘buyers remorse’ as he attempted to get approval to run on a UNC ticket in the C.W. bye-election, and has since formed his own political party and is out enticing members of the other political party to join his brigade.
Well was it not PM Panday who said ‘Politics has a morality of its own’? Go figures.
It begs the question: Are persons entering political life in T&T to serve their people and country or are they doing so with delusions of grandeur and/or enriching themselves?
You see Jack Warner is now known on the international stage as one ‘having an economy with the truth’ .. in local lingo … a liar; and as one with local, regional and international allegations of corruption hanging like a dark cloud over his head, including the documentation in the investigative report in The Express of July 13, 2013 “Jack’s Money Pit”, yet many are turning a blind eye to these ‘afflictions’ and jumping on Jack Warner’s ‘gravy train’? Why. and for what reason(s)?
Didn’t His Excellency Anthony Carmona beseeched us to ‘do the right things for the right reasons’?
Were we not listening; or did his cries enter one ear and out the other?
Yet we have the audacity to complain about our youths of today who are in harms way!
Hypocrisy at it’s max has now over-run T&T. What a pity.
