Fitzgerald’s $15M mansion

ATTORNEY GENERAL Anand Ramlogan called Opposition PNM Senator Fizgerald Hinds a hypocrite for telling Diego Martin schoolchildren not to accept UNC charity, while himself living in a $15 million, four-storey, upscale mansion in Maraval outfitted with a swimming pool.
In his Budget speech yesterday in the Senate, the AG challenged an absent Hinds to say how many poor children from Laventille, which he had formerly represented as MP, had he taken to swim in his pool or eat food from off of his marble dining table. Ramlogan said the house is located at 11 Barry Avenue, Hillsboro, Maraval.
Ramlogan said Hinds’ house is located in an area where the average house-price is $4 million, and had been estimated at $7 million as revealed during a dispute with a neighbour as reported in a news story dated July 15, 2010.
“I’m reliably informed the house is around $15 million,” said Ramlogan. “But I want to ask Senator Hinds, the same children I went to give out schoolbags, hampers and school supplies to, I want to ask him today, how many has he taken from Laventille to his posh four-storey mansion to let them swim in the pool?
“Has any child from Laventille ever been able to dip their toe in that swimming pool? You pretend to care so much. Not because you have Rasta dreadlocks mean you have Rastafarian principles,” Ramlogan slammed.
“I want to ask him, how many from Laventille without schoolbags did he ever take home and give them a meal on his marble table and give them a schoolbag and say, ‘this is for you’?”
Ramlogan said that while Hinds was painting himself as TTs Nelson Mandela he was in fact sowing the seeds of division in society, as he quoted a news report of Hinds having once angrily said he’d like to cut off the dreadlocks of an, “idiot rasta boy”, who had kissed the hand of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Ramlogan said the gifts that Hinds had told people to reject had been raised by the hard work of youngsters doing car-washes, cake-sales and raffles. “The belly-full man is living in a four storey house pretending to care for the poor man,” the AG hit.
Ramlogan criticised as a “total fabrication” a recent media story (not Newsday) that alleged a Government official paid off two mortgages in six months. I think the AG is scraping the barrel with this story. So what if Mr Hinds lives in a expensive house which the AG claims has jumped from $4m to $7 in 2010 to $15m in three years. Pathetic is how I would describe the AG.
Great work by the AG. It is people like Hinds, Rowley and Hilton Sandy who by the ‘slips’ of their tongues remove any lingering doubt about the fact that the PNM is a racist party!!! When Hinds states that he and Rowley are ‘REAL RED PNM’, what else is one to conclude. Brilliant work by our AG to expose to the country the complete hypocrite that this ‘rasta’ is.
