First Bank Village Youth Camp – A Huge Success
Youths from Bank Village and environs graduated on Tuesday from a vacation camp hosted free of charge by Couva North MP, Ramona Ramdial.
The camp was held at the recently opened Bank Village Empowerment Centre from July 21 to August 18 and featured classes which exposed children to sporting, academic, social and cultural activities.
The camp started as a free home-work programme running during the school term but numerous requests by students and parents prompted the MP to expand it to also engage youths while away from school.
MP Ramdial congratulated all children who participated in the camp and promised that there will be continuity to youth programs at the Bank Village Centre. She also thanked Minister Surujrattan Rambachan for making the Centre a reality through the Ministry of Local Government.
Ramdial said, “I am proud of all the parents who sent their children to participate in the camp and urge you to continue to be proactive in ensuring a bright future for your young ones.” She added, “Our human resource capital is most important to the development of our country and so we must nurture this resource from its formative stages by providing educational opportunities through the Government, NGO’s and Corporate T&T.”
She concluded by stating that the Bank Village summer camp will be an annual activity for the young people of Couva North and would be expanded to areas throughout the constituency.
