Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrations at Couva North

Member of Parliament for Couva North and Minister of State in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, the Honourable Ramona Ramdial held Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at her constituency office on Tuesday.
Members from each of the five Masjids within the constituency were invited to spend an evening of prayer with their MP who then hosted them for dinner.
Feature speaker, Imam Kalamazad Mohammed of the Freeport Masjid explained the significance of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan and urged Muslims to remember the feeling of hunger and thirst in order to be more compassionate to those in poverty.
MP Ramdial praised the Muslim community for assisting in the development of Couva North over the years. She made reference to their high standards of discipline, morals and values, especially in influencing young minds.
She also thanked members of the Waterloo Masjid Nur for hosting international education activist, Malala Yousafzai for Eid prayers during her visit to Trinidad & Tobago.
”Our Government is one which respects all religions and races. We have always and will always continue to support all national religious celebrations”, said Ramdial.
She wished the Muslim community “Eid Mubarak” and urged them to partner with her in continuing to develop the constituency.
