Chaguanas West calls for Government Intervention on Escalating Crime in Central
The UNC Chaguanas West Constituency Executive continues to be alarmed and concerned for the safety of the residents of Chaguanas West as crime continues to escalate in Central. Over the past few weeks there has been an upsurge in home burglaries and robberies especially in the Felicity and Pierre Road areas.
Recently two men were captured on CCTV footage trying to enter a home in Pierre Road, also a family was tied up and robbed by bandits in Tahadille Road, Pierre Road Charlieville. We are calling on the relevant authorities to please intervene and assure the residents that their safety is of utmost importance.
It is with interest we note that Senator Avinash Singh whose hometown is Felicity has been silent on the sudden increase of criminal activity and we would like to get his thoughts on the performance of the Minister of National Security Edmund Dillon whom it should be noted has been written to by Member of Parliament for Couva North Ramona Ramdial requesting his intervention in light of the recent upsurge of crime in Central.
The Chaguanas West Executive supports the calls made by MP Ramona Ramdial of a joint Police and Soldier Patrol in the affected areas. We also await a response on what measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of our residents since they are now afraid to leave their homes in fear of the rampant criminal activities.
We are calling on all relevant Authorities to please step in and protect the Citizens from the onslaught of crime which is not only affecting Central but has become a nationwide scourge.
