AG says Rowley reckless, claims emails fabricated
Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley could face the Privileges Committee of the Parliament for his disclosure in the Lower House on Monday.
This was the view of Attorney General Anand Ramlogan who is implicated in allegations of conspiracy, spying and attacking members of key institutions in the country including the Judiciary, The Office of the DPP, the Opposition and the Media by Dr. Rowley.
Mr. Ramlogan was a guest on CTV’s First Up Morning show on Tuesday.
He confirmed that he has reviewed the emails which were read out in the Parliament by Dr. Rowley.
“Dr. Rowley was very reckless and made some irresponsible and very dangerous statements in the Parliament based on emails, and I say emails in inverted commas here, that are clearly concocted and fabricated. Now that I have studied it, there is no doubt and it is very easy to prove, that the entire document is something that was typed up by someone and I don’t know that it really represents actual emails that moved to and from persons’ actual email accounts.”
Dr. Rowley has called on the President to establish an Integrity Commission to investigate the email allegations while Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has written to the Acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams to investigate the matter.
The Attorney General stated: “I think what has happened here is that someone clearly cut and past and typed up a concocted, fabricated document around fixed events to create this conspiracy theory to try and score cheap political points and I think Dr. Rowley was downright reckless, dangerous and highly irresponsible to come without checking this document.”
Following sacked Justice Minister Herbert Volney’s statement that the emails confirmed he was used as the “fall guy” in the Section 34 fiasco, the Attorney General stated that he never trusted Mr. Volney.
“I never trusted Mr. Volney either and quite frankly neither do a lot of people. But the reality is, I don’t want to get into any argument with Mr. Volney because I understand that misery likes company. But the reality of the situation is the Chief Justice presented a report to the Prime Minister and in that report he contradicted what Mr. Volney told the Cabinet and that was the basis upon which he was relieved of his duties.”
Since he was fired, The St. Joseph MP has said that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar had received bad advice and continues to receive bad advice from Attorney General Anand Ramlogan.
IyThis just does not make sense by his own saying, ”Maybe someone cut and paste.” So how should Dr.Rowley know if someone did in fact copy and paste. He just read what he received.
