MP Moonilal opens Penal/Debe Community Organizations’s 10 week Cricket Academy

Dr Roodal Moonilal, members of the Penal Debe Community Organization and children enrolled in the cricket academy cut the ribbon to official open the Titans cricket academy 2018 at the Mohess Road recreation ground.
On Sunday 27, May 2018 Member of Parliament for Oropouche East, Dr Roodal Moonilal officially declared open the ten week cricket academy hosted by the Penal Debe Community Organization. The opening was held at the Mohess Road Recreation ground.
This training activity is geared towards developing the cricketing skills of young children in the region. Dr Moonilal in his address indicated that sports is a key developmental instrument for children and youths since it also enhances discipline, commitment and sacrifice. He reminded the audience that this is why the former People’s Partnership government invested heavily in sporting infrastructure such as the aquatic center, the cycling velodrome and the national tennis center. In addition to the upgrade and lighting at over one hundred sporting grounds across the country.
Dr Moonilal also stated that investment in sports can help to curtail crime since it gives the youth an alternative to remaining idle and delinquent. In closing his address, Dr Moonilal thanked West Indian star players Samuel Badree and Captain Jason Mohammed, for their return and commitment to the region of their birth and their work in transferring the skills and experience learnt to the children and youth.
