UNC Women’s Arm Condemns Statements by the Opposition Leader
The Women’s Arm of the United National Congress (UNC) wishes to condemn the incorrect statements made by the Opposition Leader regarding the visit of the Honourable Prime Minister to Brazil.
The Leader of the Opposition in an attempt to mislead the population and for his own political mileage, indicated that the Prime Minister abandoned her job to attend football.
Firstly, we wish to emphasise that the Hon Prime Minister was very transparent in the manner in which this private visit was being done, as she made public statements explaining that the trip was of a private family nature and was not paid for by the state.
Secondly the Women’s Arm notes that since the Hon Prime Minister took office four years ago, this is the first trip she has taken with her family, which includes her son and grandson. Every mother and grandmother, would know the importance of spending some quality family time with children and the significant role this plays in building family life. The Hon Prime Minister continues to lead by example and Dr Rowley should follow suit, as we recall the recent trip of the Leader of the Opposition in the midst of the PNM internal campaign with no explanation to the public.
Thirdly, we are therefore now calling on Dr Rowley to apologise to every mother and grandmother, and we are also asking what does he have against our women who choose to spend quality time with their children and grandchildren?
