Thumbs up to new highway
THE EDITOR: Upon approaching what used to be the end of the highway to San Fernando over the weekend, I got goose bumps as I experienced an overwhelming feeling of pride when I saw the vast amount of work being done on the Debe-Mon Desir highway that is currently being constructed.
With sights comparable to those in first world countries, I thought to myself I would have never seen this level of development in my sweet TT if it was not for the initiative of the People’s Partnership Government.
On a daily basis I commute from my home in Gasparillo to my place of work in Penal and it would be such a relief when the first part of the highway is opened for public use to ease the heavy congestion due to vehicular traffic. It is like a driver’s nightmare.
The Re-route Movement is fighting for a cause that would keep our country at an unrecognisable level on the international developmental index. I understand that homes will be demolished and the eco-system will be affected but the Government is putting alternatives in place for housing and land so please look at the bigger picture.
In my eyes, this is an instance where unfortunate circumstances take place in order for good change to occur. Thumbs up to the new highway.
