Maurice Hoyte, a resident of D’Abadie/ O’Meara for the past 28 years, has seen the constituency that he holds so dear to him being reduced to a shell of its former self under the present representative and he has sought to make a stand for the people of D’Abadie/ O’Meara by offering himself as the UNC’s candidate for the 2020 General Elections.
Maurice has been active within the UNC for many years where he was instrumental in the formation of multiple party groups as well as spreading the ideas and philosophy of the UNC.
Maurice, a father of two young sons, has always wanted them to grow up in a community and a country where their possibilities and opportunities would be limitless.
He holds a master’s in small and medium enterprise management as well as a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness from the University of the West Indies. He believes that his experience as a teacher and an entrepreneur will assist him greatly in the fight to return good governance and proper representation to the people of D’Abadie/ O’Meara with the UNC.
Maurice has always had the long-standing belief that the UNC has the will, know-how, and the leadership capabilities to transform our nation into the economic powerhouse that it is destined to be. After being told by his former University lecturer that “we should not be just citizens but participating citizens in our nation” this resonated with him for years and contributed immensely to his decision in entering politics as a UNC candidate.
Being from the constituency, he has first-hand knowledge of the issues facing the people on the ground and he hopes to remain and serve as the UNC’s voice of the people on the ground.
With the leadership of Kamla Persad Bissessar, Maurice has full confidence in the UNC and its ability to lead our nation into prosperity for all citizens and future generations.
