Moonilal tours Recreational Grounds, to be completed at month’s end
Oropouche East MP, Dr. Roodal Moonilal, says upgrades to the Lalbeharry/Monkey Town Recreational Grounds could be completed by the end of this month.
He toured the grounds on Tuesday to take a look at the progress of works which began a few months ago. He was joined by members of the Barrackpore Police Youth Club.
With construction of a new HDC settlement across from the Grounds, Dr. Moonilal expects it to be a great venue for outdoor activities, sporting matches and cultural events.
“It’s a main site for particularly windball cricket in this area and we have started a few months ago the construction of a pavilion here. So this morning, we just came to inspect the works to see how it’s going. It is done at a cost of $1.6 million and is being done by the Palo Seco Agricultural Company Limited.”
Dr. Moonilal said this is just Phase One of the project because he plans to add vending booths and other features.
“It will hold 200 spectators with washroom facilities for the sporting teams participating. The other phase includes some drainage work around the ground and the third phase is a bigger phase, it involves widening the ground itself, enlargening the ground.”
