CORRECTION TO FALSE NEWS REPORT: Guaico Secondary Students Suspended for Fighting
The Ministry of Education advises that eight (8) students from Guaico Secondary have been suspended pending further investigations into a fight on the school’s compound yesterday, Thursday 5th, March 2015.
The school’s principal noticed two vehicles with former students parked outside the institution, and as a precaution, contacted the Sangre Grande Police. The Police indicated to the Principal that they would dispatch a patrol unit. The principal, anticipating trouble called some students aside and requested that they congregate in a separate area, however, when the school was dismissed at 2:30pm, the group of students began fighting. Mere moments later, the police patrol arrived and quelled the fights.
Further to police searches, one of these students was found to have a small cutlass and another had in his possession, a broken mirror and an object similar to an ice pick.
The parents of the eight offending students were called in and when they arrived (closer to 5:00pm) these students and their parents were requested to accompany the police to the Sangre Grande Police Station. All eight students have been suspended.

This article was misleading and contained information that was totally false, such as two students lying limp and having to be hospitalised.
