WGTL an unnecessary and wasteful scandal
Dear Editor:
Reading the facts surrounding the failed WGTL-Petrotrin Gas to Liquids facility that is currently being highlighted in the newspapers, one cannot help but be thoroughly disenchanted at the lack of governance and the absolute and total abdication of fiduciary responsibility displayed by the then Malcolm Jones led board. It is a serious disservice to all the citizens in this country that so much taxpayers funds was wasted on this gigantic white elephant. When one thinks of all the different ways that money could have been used (hospitals, roads, infrastructural development etc.) one can only shudder at this three (3) billion dollar waste. To compound this bad, one just have to look across the highway at the Tarouba stadium to see another gigantic white elephant.
We know that the zoo cannot house elephants, so apparently the PNM was trying to build a
reserve for them south of the Caroni.
